About the Park
The Big Parks Project is an exciting new initiative to create and improve outdoor sports and community facilities in Peacehaven.
Due to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant by Southern Water, 30 acres of land in front of the plant has been provided as part of a Section 106 agreement.
The land, together with financial contributions from Southern Water and the two large Bovis housing developments has given Peacehaven funds of around £1.7 million specifically for outdoor recreation and leisure facilities.
Most of the money is to be spent on the new park, but some can be spent on small improvements to other parks in Peacehaven.
Where will the park be?
The new park boundaries are between the wastewater plant in the north, the existing Piddinghoe Sports Park in the south, Cissbury Avenue in the east and Peacehaven Community School playing fields in the west.
It is half a mile (860m) from one end to the other and 1½ miles (2400m) around the perimeter. The site is approximately 30 acres which is over 5½ times the size of the Dell. It would take around 30 minutes to walk around at a leisurely pace.
